District 54’s Summer STEM Academy registration starts today
What did you do on your summer vacation? Next fall, your answer could be “I built and programmed a robot, learned how to code, used a 3-D printer to design my own car or jewelry, created and designed earthquake resistant buildings, or used bioluminescence for a client’s project.”
With the goal of bringing science, technology, engineering and math (STEM) alive through authentic hands-on activities, District 54 will hold a Summer STEM Academy June 19 through 23.
The District 54 Summer STEM Academy offers
- A range of fun camps designed to appeal to a variety of interests for students entering first through eighth grade in the fall of 2017;
- Courses with hands-on, project-based curricula;
- Instruction by District 54 teachers, experienced with STEM, in a positive environment; and
- An opportunity to conduct experiments using tools, equipment and technology used within the real world.
Registration for the Summer STEM Academy is $40 per student, which includes a camp T-shirt. Please make checks or money orders payable to School District 54. Registration closes on Monday, April 17. Information and registration forms have been sent home with your child, or click here to access the forms online. A confirmation of registration and enrollment will be mailed by May 19, 2017.
