Freedom of Information Act

It is the policy of the Board of Education of Schaumburg Community Consolidated School District 54 to make its public records available through the Freedom of Information Act. All requests for records should be in writing and addressed to the Chief FOIA Officer Terri McHugh.

To simplify the process, requests may be (but are not required to be) submitted on the District 54 FOIA Request Form.

These records are also available for inspection during normal business hours Monday through Friday, except on holidays. FOIA requests may be mailed to this location and records may be inspected and copied at the Rafferty Administration Center, 524 E. Schaumburg Road, Schaumburg.

  • First 50 pages of black and white, letter- or legal-sized copies – no charge
  • Additional pages after the first 50 pages – 15 cents per page
  • All color copies (including the first 50) – 20 cents per page 
  • All copies on paper sizes other than letter- and legal- sized – 20 cents per page
  • Copies in electronic format – actual cost for purchasing the medium (CD or other medium)
  • Fee for certifying a public record – $1
  • For commercial purposes District 54 will charge a fee of $10 for each hour spent by personnel, after the first eight hours, searching for and retrieving requested records or examining the records for necessary redactions

An invoice will be issued and payment is to be made payable to School District 54. Documents will be furnished without charge or at a reduced charge when the district determines that a waiver or reduction is in the public interest.

Schaumburg Community Consolidated School District 54 is an elementary school district located in Schaumburg Township, Cook County, Illinois. District 54 is organized under the laws of the State of Illinois for the purpose of providing its residents with schools for early childhood through eighth grade for the education of all eligible children residing in the district.

District 54 is accountable to the U.S. Department of Education, the Illinois State Board of Education and the taxpayers of Schaumburg Township.

The School Board has two standing committees – the District Citizens’ Advisory Committee (DCAC) and the Board Policy Committee. Barb Hengels serves on the District Citizens’ Advisory Committee. Jim Pye, Debbie Schmnidt and Mary Kay Prusnick serve on the Board Policy Committee.
