School District 54 strives to provide our staff and their families with a comprehensive and valuable benefits package. We want to make sure they’re getting the most out of our benefits— that’s why we’ve put together the following document.

D54 Benefits Guide 2024

Starting July 1, 2022, districts are required to provide Faith’s Law training to staff to combat grooming.  Starting July 1, 2023, applicants seeking employment in a position that requires direct involvement with children or students must authorize an employment history review with current/former employers to request the pertinent information.

In School District 54, employees are informed of the Faith’s Law disclosure requirement and Employee History Review (EHR) authorization during the application process. The ISBE Sexual Misconduct Disclosure Form is a required form in the onboarding packet for new hires. For the EHR, new employees are required to provide the names and contact information of all of their former employers.

School District 54 uses Verifient to facilitate this process and provide new hires with these directions through the onboarding process. Verifent collects the current/former employer information from new employees, sends those employers ISBE’s Authorization for Release of Sexual Misconduct-Related Information form, and provides the responses to School District 54. (If necessary, we can initiate the verification process on behalf of the employee from the Verifier portal.)

The District 54 Induction and Mentoring Program is designed to support new teachers and specialists and to create a professional growth environment. Mentor training, professional development classes and individual goal-setting are integral components of the District 54 Induction and Mentoring Program.

District 54 mentors form partnerships with new teachers, assisting them in understanding the core curriculum, classroom management, instructional strategies, assessment and all aspects of their professional development. They will refine their skills in developing trusting and open relationships and dialogues around instruction. They will use formative assessment tools to coach novice teachers.  Visit sd54.org/new-teachers for more information.

Professional Development registration takes place through the Employee Access Center.
