Flexible Support Teachers

School District 54 has immediate full-time Flexible Support Teaching positions available! The responsibilities include covering daily unfilled teaching positions within the school or following a set schedule supporting small groups for math and literacy. Ideal for December education graduates, but employment can begin sooner for anyone currently seeking a position.

This is a full-time, certified teaching position with benefits. District 54 prides itself on creating a positive environment committed to the success of our staff and our students. In this role, you will have opportunities for professional development to help you grow as an educator. This position is also a wonderful way to gain experience across grade levels and learn the systems and structures within District 54.

School Nursing Positions

School District 54 is seeking registered nurses to serve our students and help maintain a safe and healthy learning environment. Openings are available for registered nurses to fill full-time, part-time and as-needed positions. Full- and part-time positions will have guaranteed hours, whereas nurses hired for the as-needed positions will be contacted to fill shortages when school nurses are absent. New RN graduates are welcome to apply and will be considered.

Responsibilities include providing health care in both general and emergency situations, administering medications and treatments to support student health, and assisting with other health-related activities throughout District 54 schools.

D54 Benefits Guide 2023

The District 54 Induction and Mentoring Program is designed to support new teachers and specialists and to create a professional growth environment. Mentor training, professional development classes and individual goal-setting are integral components of the District 54 Induction and Mentoring Program.

District 54 mentors form partnerships with new teachers, assisting them in understanding the core curriculum, classroom management, instructional strategies, assessment and all aspects of their professional development. They will refine their skills in developing trusting and open relationships and dialogues around instruction. They will use formative assessment tools to coach novice teachers.  Visit sd54.org/new-teachers for more information.
