Superintendent Search

District 54 Superintendent Andy DuRoss announced in January that he would be retiring at the end of the 2026-2027 school year. He announced 18 months in advance of his last day in order to ensure the School Board has ample time to conduct a thorough search for his replacement and to allow for a seamless transition. In January, the School Board approved an agreement with HYA (Hazard Young Attea Associates) to conduct a search for the next superintendent.

The company is currently gathering feedback on the current strengths and challenges for the district, as well as the desired characteristics of the next superintendent. As part of this process, we ask you to complete this Superintendent Search Survey by the end of the day April 13. We would also invite you to attend one of the two focus groups that HYA is conducting for community members.

Timeline

  • February 19 – School Board planning meeting with HYA
  • March & April – Interviews, focus groups and community forums

Thank you in advance for sharing your feedback to help the School Board select the next District 54 Superintendent. The focus groups and the survey will provide the Board with valuable feedback during the hiring process, and will also be shared with the next superintendent.
