District 54 is excited to welcome future kindergarten students for the 2026-27 school year! Registration will open on Wednesday, Jan. 28, 2026.
Kindergarten Registration is as Easy as 1, 2, 3!
When registration opens on Jan. 28, families will follow these simple steps to register their children. We are communicating this now, so you have time to pull together the required documents before Jan. 28.
1 – CompleteOnline Application
- New Families: Start the online application at sd54.org/kindergarten.
- Current Families: Log in to your Infinite Campus Parent Portal account to enroll your kindergarten student. Need assistance with your login? Contact [email protected].
- Early Learning Center Families: If your ELC student is transitioning to kindergarten next year, you do not need to register at this time. Your child is already enrolled in District 54 as an ELC student, which means you will register during “returning student” registration in March through your parent portal account.
2 – Schedule a School Appointment
- After finishing the online registration, contact your neighborhood school to complete the process. Unsure of your assigned school? Use the School Boundary Map to locate your neighborhood school. We would love for you to bring your future kindergartener along for the appointment.
3 – Prepare Required Documents
- Proof of identification
- Proof of residence (3 separate documents).
- Original birth certificate, visa, or passport with a seal.

Open Enrollment Options for Unique Learning Opportunities
District 54 residents also have the opportunity to enroll their children in schools offering innovative programs through the open enrollment process. These programs include:
- Spanish-English Dual Language
- Chinese Immersion
- Mandarin Japanese-English Dual Language
- Multiage Community School (kindergarten through eighth grade)
