At District 54, we believe in the power of coming together—not only to support one another within our schools but to reach beyond our walls and make a difference in the world. That’s why we’re proud to announce our very first district-wide community service project: a fundraising campaign in support of the American Cancer Society.

Over the past week, every school in District 54 held a high-energy kickoff assembly to launch this important initiative. Students and staff alike are stepping up to raise funds for the American Cancer Society, an organization that works tirelessly to save lives, celebrate survivors and invest in groundbreaking research to end cancer for good.

From kindergarten classrooms to junior high hallways, our community is buzzing with enthusiasm and purpose. Schools are finding fun, creative ways to encourage participation—like rewarding students who reach fundraising milestones with perks such as extra recess, homework-free days, school-wide dance parties, and even the chance to pie a teacher in the face! And while it’s all in good fun, this is more than just a fundraiser—it’s a chance for our students to learn what it means to support those in need and contribute to a cause that touches so many lives.

There’s even a little friendly competition brewing among our schools to see who can rally the most support. Want to get involved? Visit your favorite school’s website and make a donation today! All school links can be found at sd54.org/school-directory. But don’t wait too long—fundraising ends on May 2.

Every dollar raised helps the American Cancer Society continue its mission: ensuring that more people have the chance to prevent, detect, treat, and survive cancer. Your contribution could help improve the lives of patients and their families—right here in our community and beyond.

Let’s come together to show what District 54 can do when we unite behind a common goal. Together, we can make a meaningful impact and show that no one fights alone.
