Recognition
The Board of Education recognized the Campanelli Elementary School Community for being named a Special Olympics Unified Champion Banner School. A Unified Championship School demonstrates a commitment to building an inclusive school through collaboration, engagement and respect for all members of the student body and staff. Schools must have a Special Olympics Unified Sports program, inclusive youth leadership groups and engage in whole school education. At Campanelli Michelle Pikscher, Megan King and Emily Osterman have led these efforts for the past few years, with the support of Amy Houlihan and Dilshad Patel and the entire staff and student body. They are joined by Ashley Blocker, Jessica Hoyer and Caroline Bullington who have sponsored the Young Athletes program at Campanelli.
