Benefits

All permanent District 54 employees (working at least 30 hours per week) are eligible for benefits. Family members (spouse, children under 26, disabled dependents) are also generally eligible for coverage.

Medical Benefits

Medical Insurance

District 54 offers two medical plans provided by Blue Cross Blue Shield.

  • HMO: No deductible, fixed copay for services
  • PPO: In-network and out-of-network benefits, deductible and coinsurance apply.

Dental Insurance

District 54 offers two dental plans.

  • DHMO: Fixed copay for services, in-network only provided by Blue Cross Blue Shield
  • PPO: In-network and out-of-network benefits, deductible and coinsurance apply provided by Delta Dental

Vision Insurance

  • The VSP Signature Network covers eye exams, lenses, frames and contacts.
  • There are also discounts on lens enhancements and laser vision correction.

Disability Income Benefits

  • District 54 offers long-term disability for non-work-related injuries.
  • Benefits begin after 180 days.
  • Replaces 60% of income.

Life Insurance

  • Basic Life and AD&D is provided to all full-time employees, with a value of $50,000.
  • Voluntary Life and AD&D is available for purchase.
