Arrival: During screening, kindergarten teachers will inform parents about the school’s pick-up and drop-off procedures. In general, your child should arrive no more than five minutes before school starts.
Departure: When school is over, your child needs to be picked up on time. Children often become panicky and disoriented if they are picked up late. Teachers often have meetings or other professional commitments after school; therefore, it is important for the teacher not to be detained with a child who is not being picked up on time.
Busing: District 54 provides free busing for students in kindergarten through eighth grade who attend their base school, an open enrollment school or a magnet school and live 1.5 miles or more from that school, or in an area determined to be a hazard. Students who live .5 to 1.49 miles from their school may ride the bus for an annual fee if space is available. Families of students who qualify will receive an email with information each June. People who apply by July 15 will receive an early-bird discount.
Child Care: District 54 does not provide child care services. child care is available at school sites through a program provided by other agencies. If you are interested in learning more about these programs, please call them directly.
