As the situation surrounding the COVID-19 pandemic continues to change, District 54 is working with amazing community partners to provide food and other supports to families who are struggling financially. Families needing assistance may benefit from the following.

School Lunches
Families can pick up lunches and milk on weekdays at their school. If you need this assistance, call your school office to ask about lunch pick-up times and procedures. Visit the D54 website for more information on qualifying for the free and reduced lunch program.

Other Food Distribution

  • District 211 has invited our families to visit any one of their high schools from 4-5 p.m. every Thursday.  In addition to meal bags with 7 days of breakfast and lunch meals, Palatine and Hoffman Estates high schools will provide a ready-to-eat hot dinner meal to-go for all kids 18 years and younger.
    • Conant High School, 700 E. Cougar Trail, Hoffman Estates
    • Hoffman Estates High School, 1100 W. Higgins Road, Hoffman Estates
    • Schaumburg High School, 1100 W. Schaumburg Road, Schaumburg
    • Fremd High School, 1000 S. Quentin Road, Palatine
  • Willow Creek will host its Mobile Food Truck at Muir Elementary School, 1973 N. Kensington in Hoffman Estates, from 4 to 5 p.m. on Dec. 1 and Dec. 15.
  • Willow Creek Community Church also will have its Mobile Food Truck at Keller Junior High School, 820 Bode Road in Schaumburg, from 4 to 5 p.m. on Dec. 4 and Dec. 18.

Food Pantries
District 54 has reopened its food pantries by appointment only. Reach out to your school social worker if you have a need for this service. In addition, the Schaumburg Township Food Pantry and many faith-based charities are providing food to families in our community. Click here to access a list of these pantries on the Schaumburg Township website.

Crisis Fund
The District 54 Education Foundation has also created a  fund called the D54 Foundation Crisis Fund, which will be used to support our most at-risk families, including the 20% of students who qualify for free lunch. This emergency fund will help families impacted by this virus, and could be used in the future to provide immediate access to financial assistance for financially struggling families. If you are in need of support from this fund, please reach out to your school social worker.

Community Closet
The D54 Community Closet is not currently accepting donations, but has a plethora of gently used donated clothes for families in need. Please contact your school social worker with any request you may have and they can pull clothing together in the sizes you need.

Health and Mental Wellness
District 54’s Special Education Team has created a website with a variety of health and mental wellness resources. Click here to access that site

Internet Access
Hotspots are available for financially struggling families who don’t have internet access at home. Please contact your school office if you are experiencing financial hardships and need a hotspot. We understand that some families are experiencing slow speeds or problems with their providers, and we ask you to report that directly to your provider.

School Supplies
Families that need pens, pencils, paper or additional school supplies for remote learning should contact their school office. Supplies for students have been donated to our schools through Schaumburg Township and the Hoffman Estates Chamber of Commerce.
