As the situation surrounding the COVID-19 pandemic continues to change, District 54 is working with amazing community partners to provide food and other supports to families who are struggling financially. Families needing assistance may benefit from the following.

School Lunches
Families can pick up lunches and milk at their school on days school is in session. If you need this assistance, call your school office to ask about lunch pick-up times and procedures. Visit the D54 Free Lunch web page for more information on qualifying for the free and reduced lunch program.

For more information, visit the Schaumburg Township Library’s Free Summer Meals page.

Food Pantries
The D54 Food Pantry is closed for the summer. However, when the pantries re-open Sept. 1, 2021, families will be able to place an order online and pick up at the pantry site once a month. We serve all District 54 who require assistance, not just those receiving free and reduced lunch. Reach out to your school social worker if you have a need for this service or visit our Food Pantry page to place an online order.  In addition, the Schaumburg Township Food Pantry and many faith-based charities are providing food to families in our community.

Crisis Fund
The District 54 Education Foundation has also created a  fund called the D54 Foundation Crisis Fund, which will be used to support our most at-risk families, including the 20% of students who qualify for free lunch. This emergency fund will help families impacted by this virus, and could be used in the future to provide immediate access to financial assistance for financially struggling families. If you are in need of support from this fund, please reach out to your school social worker.

Community Closet
The D54 Community Closet is not currently accepting donations, but has a plethora of gently used donated clothes for families in need. Please contact your school social worker with any request you may have and they can pull clothing together in the sizes you need.

Health and Mental Wellness
District 54’s Special Education Team has created a website with a variety of health and mental wellness resources. Click here to access that site

Internet Access
Hotspots are available for financially struggling families who don’t have internet access at home. Please contact your school office if you are experiencing financial hardships and need a hotspot. We understand that some families are experiencing slow speeds or problems with their providers, and we ask you to report that directly to your provider.

School Supplies
Families that need pens, pencils, paper or additional school supplies for remote learning should contact their school office. Supplies for students have been donated to our schools through Schaumburg Township and the Hoffman Estates Chamber of Commerce.
