Junior Journalist Update from Keller – By Shreya P.

Last month at Keller Junior High the Lady Wildcats played a tough basketball season. I was able to be our starting point guard this year at Keller and I had a blast. We all had our up and downs, our wins and losses, but at the end we worked together as a team. Both teams had a devastating loss by one point to Addams Junior High a couple weeks ago that put us in fourth place, but the season was exceptional.  Way to go Wildcats! The 7th grade team was coached by Mr. Zdrahel and the 8th grade team was coached by Ms. Groot and Mr. Stephens.

I was part of the roster of ten 7th grade girls. Each player showed off and improved each of their skills. We worked “Together as One” and got our reps in each and every game.

“After a long season we, the seventh grade Lady Wildcats, improved as being basketball players but also as a team,” said Mya R., player #11.

Even though we had our losses this season, it’s safe to say that these girls put up a tough game on the court. We didn’t let those games get to us; we lifted our heads and worked harder and played stronger the next game.

“Of course we had our rocky hard games and our outstanding games, but the thing is we have recovered from those bad games and took them to make a learning experience,” said Mya.

Never ever did we have bad sportsmanship or get mad at other players. In fact, the refs told us straight to our faces, “Thank you for helping them up” or “way to have good sportsmanship Wildcats.”

Overall, we had an amazing season and we can’t wait to bring our mighty team back on the court next year. Watch out, as the Lady Wildcats are here to fight!
