Junior Journalist Update from Addams – by Sruthi K.
The 2017-2018 school year started with a bang at Addams Junior High! Both the Addams Cross Country girls (seventh and eighth) and the seventh grade Cross Country boys were made champions, winning The Shoe, a memoir in the Addams trophy case for generations of students to watch with pride. Also, girls cheerleading tryouts have passed wonderfully according to all the excited girls around school!
Halloween was this past Tuesday; who did you go as this Halloween? Speaking of which, there was an Addams Jack-O-Lantern contest! Students didn’t have to get gooey pumpkin guts all over their fingers; the Jack-O-Lanterns were on a slide online. Students whose Jack-O-Lanterns were really good, along with the backstory they had to write, had a chance to get a free book! The winners were announced on Nov. 3.
The tryouts for Peter Pan Jr. are in November. I know that this year the play might even surpass how well last year’s “Bye Bye Birdie” went. I’m sure it will be full of hope, trust, and a little bit of pixie dust! That’s all for now! See you next month.
District 54’s Junior Journalists are seventh- and eighth-grade students from each of our junior high schools and Lincoln Prairie School who write monthly stories about their building for the District 54 website.
