District Committees

Advisory Council for District Initiatives (ACDI)

The Advisory Council for District Initiatives is a strategic planning committee which reviews new ideas that impact teaching and learning in District 54. Members provide guidance and mentoring to individuals or groups that present new instructional initiatives to the committee.  Ideas are explored and developed at the meetings before they are presented to the School Board for review.

ACDI is a district committee composed of individuals who represent one of the District 54 constituent groups – teachers, support staff, administrators, school board and the community.

Who can suggest a change?

Any person or group can suggest changes in the instruction or operation of the district. A curriculum committee, a task force, a School Leadership Team, a community group and individuals have presented ideas to ACDI.

District Citizens’ Advisory Committee (DCAC)

The District Citizens’ Advisory Committee is a School Board committee composed of staff members; parents; representatives of various governmental, community and business organizations; and members of the community-at-large. The Board established this committee to increase communication and provide citizen involvement at the school and district levels.  DCAC offers members an opportunity to offer input on district topics and promote education and community involvement.

DCAC has been a valuable resource for the district. Some recent projects include helping to develop a parent brochure about interventions, creating parent booklets explaining MAP testing (Measures of Academic Progress), and providing feedback on a revised junior high report card, social studies curriculum and a new writing framework. For more information about DCAC, contact Cyndi Ballmaier at (847) 357-5141.

DCAC’s function

  • Operates as a School Board committee focusing on issues within the community.
  • Provides a network for interested citizens across the school district.
  • Communicates with other school community organizations to share information to improve the level of education and the community environment.
