Call to Order: The Board of Education meeting was called to order at 7 p.m.
Public Hearing on the 2012-13 Budget Adoption: No one asked to speak.
Recognition of Special Olympians and Volunteers from 2011-12
Public Comment: No one asked to speak.
Freedom of Information Act Requests: There have been three requests since the last board meeting related to bids for clay, art supplies, cleaning supplies and paper supplies, as well as all documents related to flooring demolition and buildout performed during the summer of 2012.

Reports:
- Superintendent’s Report: Superintendent Ed Rafferty thanked staff who led professional development sessions this summer, those who hired new employees, those who worked on our facilities, those who enrolled students and routed buses, and everyone who helped our district prepare for the first day of school.
- Report of President of Board of Education: President Teresa Huber announced that the board will be participating in Schaumburg’s Septemberfest parade on Labor Day.
- PTA Report: PTA Council President Lisa Guagenti reported that PTAs are working hard as well to get ready for the start of school.
New Business:
- The Board adopted the 2012-13 budget. The detailed budget can be found on our BoardDocs website.
- The Board adopted a resolution directing staff to begin preparing the 2013-14 budget in tentative form.
- The Board had the first reading of 47 board policies that the Policy Committee recommends for deletion. A complete list can be found on our BoardDocs website.
Announcements: Board members praised those involved in New Teacher Induction Week and announced that the Daily Herald Business Ledger recognized Assistant Superintendent Ric King with a CFO of the Year Award.
Adjournment: The Board adjourned at 8:20 p.m. to closed session to discuss the appointment, employment, compensation, discipline, performance or dismissal of specific employees of the public body.
